Neuropathologic features of cognitively defined Alzheimer's disease subgroups in the Adult Changes in Thought study

Abstract BACKGROUND Individuals with Alzheimer's disease (AD) dementia can be subgrouped based on cognitive performance at diagnosis. We compared neuropathology across cognitively defined AD subgroups in the Adult Changes in Thought study. METHODS Scores for memory, executive functioning, language, and visuospatial abi...

Alzheimer’s disease neuropathological characterization of the dog brain and relationship to biofluid biomarkers and cognitive function

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder affecting more than 55 million people worldwide and is characterized by cognitive decline, amyloid-beta (Aβ) plaques, and neurofibrillary tangles. Although transgenic rodent models have advanced understanding of AD, they do not fully replicate the spo...

Aquaporin-4 mis-localization decreases glymphatic clearance of α-synuclein in an alpha-syntrophin knock out mouse model and promotes α-synuclein pathology and aggregate propagation.

Results indicate α-synuclein clearance and propagation are mediated by glymphatic function and that aquaporin-4 mis-localization observed in the presence of human synucleinopathy may contribute to the development and propagation of Lewy body pathology in conditions such as Lewy body dementia and Parkinson's disease.

Single nucleus RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptomics reveal unique functionalities of gray matter versus white matter oligodendrocytes in aging and Alzheimer’s Disease

This analysis identified a conserved newly formed differentiating (NFOL)/differentiating → lipid remodeling → Stress/ISR-reactive architecture, with a pronounced expansion of the Stress/ISR-reactive compartment and altered transition-associated pathway enrichment in high ADNC WM.
