Comparative ultrastructural and proteomics analysis of peritrophic membrane between Apis cerana and Apis mellifera

It is shown that the SBV viral load in the PM of A. cerana larvae was significantly higher than that of A. mellifera larvae, demonstrating that the PM may serve as a key barrier during SBV infection and sheds light on the mechanisms underlying interspecific SBV resistance differences.
