Comparative ultrastructural and proteomics analysis of peritrophic membrane between Apis cerana and Apis mellifera

Sep 2026 · Apidologie · Vol 57 · 0 citations · 47 references

TL;DR

It is shown that the SBV viral load in the PM of A. cerana larvae was significantly higher than that of A. mellifera larvae, demonstrating that the PM may serve as a key barrier during SBV infection and sheds light on the mechanisms underlying interspecific SBV resistance differences.

Integrated Ultrastructural and Transcriptomic Analysis of the Proboscis in Apis cerana cerana Under Different Foraging Conditions

Simple Summary The proboscis of the eastern honey bee, Apis cerana cerana, is traditionally considered a feeding organ used for nectar collection. However, its potential structural and molecular characteristics associated with chemical sensing during foraging remain insufficiently understood. In this study, we combined...

Zoospore-derived extracellular vesicles in the flagellated stramenopile Phytophthora parasitica

Zoospores are unicellular, wall-less and flagellated cells produced by a number of eukaryotic microorganisms. They allow microbial dispersion, enable the search and location for new sources of nutrients where they aggregate, initiate pathogen-host interactions and communication within microbiota. Little is known about...

Functional and proteomic characterization of Phytophthora nicotianae extracellular vesicles and putative cargo-sorting signals in filamentous pathogens

Findings show that P. nicotianae secretes structurally heterogeneous EV-like particles with biological activity in plant and bacterial assays, and suggest potential roles in host interaction, microbial competition, and putative conserved features that may be involved in cargo loading.

Skin Histology of Pithecopus spp. and Modulation of Glutathione Status by the Antioxidant Tryptophyllin PaT-2

Amphibians of the family Phyllomedusidae produce complex cutaneous secretions with ecological and pharmacological relevance. Here, we investigated the skin morphology of Pithecopus oreades and P. azureus and the antioxidant function of the tryptophyllin PaT-2 in microglial cells. Histological and histochemical analyses...
