Abstract

Heavy metal contamination poses global threats to soil health, driving urgent demand for sustainable remediation solutions. This study presents the first bibliometric analysis of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF)-assisted phytoremediation research. It is based on a corpus of 638 publications (2004-2024) from 74 countries, analyzed using VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and Gephi. China was the primary contributor, with 238 publications, while the Chinese Academy of Sciences served as the central hub for institutional collaboration. The evolution of this field comprised three phases: an initial low-output phase, a period of fluctuating development, and a post-2019 phase of rapid growth that peaked in 2022 with 67 annual publications. Keyword burst analysis reveals the temporal evolution of research focuses. Funneliformis mosseae has been the most persistent research hot spot, while since 2019, molecular mechanisms-particularly antioxidant defense systems and microbial synergies-have emerged as the dominant research frontier. Through a publication analysis, it was found that the core journals of the study included the International Journal of Phytoremediation, Environmental Pollution, Ecotoxicology, and Environmental Safety.

Global scientific research exploration on the control of Burkholderia species in rice cultivation: a scopus-based mapping

Burkholderia species, particularly B. glumae, B. gladioli, and B. plantarii are recognized as devastating bacterial pathogens in rice causing panicle blight, grain rot, and seedling blight, leading to substantial yield losses worldwide. Various control strategies have been explored to mitigate the disease, however rese...

The Impact of Microplastics on Arbuscular Mycorrhzal Symbiosis in Plants (Solanum lycopersicum): A Literature Review

The synthesis indicates that microplastics act as physical and chemical stressors in the rhizosphere and can weaken the ecological functions of AMF–tomato symbiosis and threaten sustainable tomato production.

Lessons learned from the root and crown rot associated with Neopestalotiopsis rosae epidemics in Mexican strawberry production systems: A retrospective analysis based on data science

Background : The emergence of Neopestalotiopsis rosae , causing root rot, crown rot, and leaf spot of strawberry, resulted in a major phytosanitary crisis in Mexico, with yield losses reaching 70%. This study reconstructs how growers in central Mexico responded to and managed the epidemic, synthesizing survey da...

Status of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi Research in Pakistan: A Comprehensive Review of Diversity, Distribution, and Agricultural Applications

Background: Around 80% of land vascular plants are obligate symbiotic to Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF). They are very important to the acquisition of nutrients and the functioning of ecosystems. The role of AMF in stress tolerance is also important. Methods: Between 1976 and 2020, mycorrhizal studies (80) conducte...

IMPACT OF INDIGENOUS ARBUSCULAR MYCORRHIZAL FUNGI ON LEAD SPECIATION DURING PHYTOREMEDIATION OF CONTAMINATED LANDFILL SOILS IN BONOUA, COTE D IVOIRE

This study evaluates the changes in lead (Pb) speciation induced by phytoremediation in contaminated soils from the M Ploussoue Park landfill in Bonoua, Cote d Ivoire. Acacia mangium was cultivated, with or without inoculation by indigenous mycorrhizal fungi (IMF), on landfill soils artificially contaminated with three...
