Abstract
Modeling of complex systems is based on established theories and concepts, but also on innovative constructions that harmonize the system with the requirements foreseen for its operating life. The problems of system interaction are concentrated at each coupling interface between them, where the harmonization of inputs and outputs of matter, energy and information, the management of coupling variables, the mutual compatibility of systems, the harmonization of error handling procedures, data processing protocols and reliability are achieved. The refinement of current and future systems, especially in the context of advanced integration of artificial intelligence and the human factor, requires new approaches, theories and tools of mutual interaction, involving even the quantum level of human consciousness and awareness. The inter-, trans- and multi-disciplinary characteristics of system coupling interfaces must be considered, covering a wide range of phenomena, from deterministic to probabilistic, even to quantum subtleties. Therefore, interface management must become a strategic solution in the optimal functioning of networked systems.
Engineering activity, especially when dealing with complex systems, is characterized by a large set of approaches such as frameworks, theories, methods, methodologies, and tools focusing on specific aspects of systemic attributes such as performance, materials transfers, information flows, etc. Yet, these approaches ex...

An initial characterization of LLM-supported design in self-adaptive systems is contributed, which outlines research directions, and aims to stimulate discussion within the community on advancing LLM-supported architectural design for self-adaptive and autonomous software systems.
Industrial and systems engineering developed as a transdiscipline by integrating engineering principles and methods with mathematics, physics, and sociology to design, improve, and install integrated systems where people are present. Nevertheless, it has strayed from its transdisciplinary nature due to the necessary sp...

“Enterprise information systems” have outgrown the organisation as a unit of analysis. This introduction to the special issue on the future of information systems in the enterprise argues that future work should be situated at the level of the integrated whole through which coordinated action and value creation are sus...
