Multidisciplinary Perspectives on Mental Health Awareness

2020 · International Journal of Emerging Trends in Multidisciplinary Research · Vol 3, pp. 01-15 · 0 citations

Abstract

Mental health awareness has become a major global concern in the 21st century due to the rising prevalence of psychological disorders, social changes, technological advancements, and evolving healthcare systems. Despite progress in psychiatric research and behavioral sciences, challenges such as stigma, limited access to care, socioeconomic disparities, and fragmented policy frameworks continue to hinder effective mental health promotion. This paper examines mental health awareness through a multidisciplinary perspective, integrating insights from psychology, psychiatry, neuroscience, public health, sociology, education, information technology, and policy studies. It reviews theoretical frameworks and empirical research to develop an integrated model for sustainable mental health awareness and intervention. Using a mixed-methods approach that includes qualitative synthesis, quantitative meta-analysis, and policy comparison, the study evaluates awareness levels, stigma reduction, service accessibility, and digital mental health adoption. Findings indicate that multidisciplinary interventions significantly improve awareness, reduce stigma, and increase help-seeking behavior. The results highlight the importance of integrating educational institutions, healthcare systems, digital technologies, and policy initiatives to create sustainable mental health ecosystems. The study recommends cross-sector collaboration, digital literacy initiatives, culturally adaptive awareness programs, and evidence-based policy reforms to strengthen global mental health awareness
