Abstract
This study analyzes the failure mechanisms of the key rotor components of a high-speed permanent magnet generator, namely permanent magnets, sleeves, and backup bearings. For rotor permanent magnets, mechanical failure and magnetic performance failure are investigated, with emphasis on the magnetic failure mechanism under high temperature and reverse magnetic field. For rotor sleeves, starting from the viscoelastic mechanical properties of carbon fiber sleeve matrix materials, the evolution laws of composite stiffness and strength are studied, and the failure mechanism is analyzed based on experimental data. For rotor backup bearings, rotor dynamic simulation model and finite element calculation model are established to identify coating failure as the root cause of backup bearing failure, and the coating failure mechanism is analyzed.
High-speed permanent magnet motors, due to their high speed, compact size, and light weight, are increasingly widely used in renewable energy systems, electric pump drives, fuel cell air compressors, and other fields. As a core component of high-speed permanent magnet motors, the reasonable design of the rotor system s...

Magnetic Liquid Double Suspension Bearing (MLDSB) combines electromagnetic suspension with hydrostatic support to improve load-carrying capacity and operational stability. However, failure of an individual hydrostatic support element can destroy the original force balance and induce strongly coupled electromagnetic–hyd...
Permanent magnet–assisted synchronous reluctance motors (PMa-SynRMs) are promising for electric vehicles due to high torque density and lower magnet use, yet torque ripple remains a challenge. This paper presents the design and optimization of a six-phase PMa-SynRM to minimize torque ripple while preserving average tor...

Operating electrical machines (EMs) at high speeds induces severe rotor stress and efficiency losses. A coaxial speed multiplier magnetic gear (SMMG) enables low-speed EMs to operate efficiently while achieving high output rotational velocities, thus avoiding the associated EM design penalties. In the SMMG topology, th...
