This study enriches the species diversity of Distoseptispora in southern China and highlights the importance of integrating morphological and molecular data for species delimitation.

Abstract

Abstract During investigations of saprobic fungi on decaying wood in terrestrial habitats of southern China, several sporidesmium-like isolates were collected from dead branches of unidentified plants in Fujian, Jiangxi, and Yunnan provinces. Based on morphological comparisons and multilocus phylogenetic analyses of ITS, LSU, RPB2, and TEF1 sequence data, four new species of Distoseptispora, namely D. acropleurogena, D. distoseptata, D. ellipsoidea, and D. jiulianshanensis, are proposed. Detailed descriptions and comparisons with allied taxa are provided. This study enriches the species diversity of Distoseptispora in southern China and highlights the importance of integrating morphological and molecular data for species delimitation.

Two new species of Oberwinklerozyma and Rosettozyma (Microbotryomycetes) from Yunnan, southwestern China

Oberwinklerozyma and Rosettozyma comprise a relatively small number of described species worldwide. Although several novel species from China have recently been reported, the species diversity of these two genera remains incompletely understood. In this study, two novel yeast species, Oberwinklerozyma jinghongens...

Two new species of Veronaea (Herpotrichiellaceae, Chaetothyriales) from Guizhou Province, China

Abstract Freshwater and terrestrial ecosystems harbor a rich diversity of fungi, many of which remain poorly explored, particularly within the order Chaetothyriales. Four hyphomycetous isolates were obtained from freshwater and terrestrial habitats in Guizhou Province, China. Their morphological characteristics were ex...

Nigropunctata xishuangbannaensis sp. nov. (Pallidoperidiaceae, Xylariales), a new species from bamboo in Yunnan, China

Nigropunctata xishuangbannaensis sp. nov. is introduced in this study, isolated from decaying bamboo culms in Yunnan Province, China. Multigene phylogenetic analyses based on five loci (ITS, LSU, rpb2, tub2, and tef1-α) place this taxon in a well-supported, distinct lineage clearly separated from closely related specie...

Two Contributions to the Hypogeous Boletales of China: A Novel Rhizopogon Species and a New National Record of Turmalinea persicina

Hypogeous Boletales are ectomycorrhizal fungi with sequestered hymenophores; some species are ecologically valuable as edible mushrooms. Despite their ecological and economical importance, the diversity of this group in China remains poorly understood. In this study, we performed phylogenetic analyses based on four l...
