On the issue of digital competence in foreign language education

Abstract

This article discusses the concept of digital competence of a teacher of foreign language education.  Modern trends in education require the acquisition of professional competencies in the fieldof digital technologies, the use of which is more relevant than ever. One of the distinctive features of the modern world is its rapid informatisation and technologicalisation. Information computer technologies, which a few years ago seemed to many a distant future, have very quickly turned into a reality. However, the processes of transition to digital technologies, which, at the usual speed of the spread and implementation of innovations, would take several years, during the pandemic took place literally in a few weeks. The purpose of the work is to study the features of the professional formation and development of future foreign language teachers in the context of the digital transformation of foreign language education, as well as to study the conditions for the formation of digital competence.  In addition, the study examines its component structure, which is presented by leading methodologists in this field, in response to the challenges of the time and the requirements of the modern educational process. Methods. To achieve this goal, we used methods of critical analysis of pedagogical and linguodidactic literature, scientific sources on the theory and methodology of teaching foreign languages and the digital transformation of education; an empirical method presented in the form of observation of the learning process in the field of study, as well as generalizing methods for systematizing and presenting the results of theoretical research. Results. As a result of the analysis, conclusions were made about the timeliness and correctness of the formation of digital competencies among teachers of additional education who teach foreign language communication. Conclusion. New modern computer technologies, applications and training platforms are mandatory tools of learning. An overview of existing platforms and applications contributing to the level of motivation is presented in this article. The ability to apply them in the learning process is the goal of increasing interest in learning.
