Abstract

Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) possess significant promise as supercapacitor electrodes owing to their distinctive layered architectures and inherent abundance. Nevertheless, their commercial application is hindered by the inferior electrical conductivity and inadequate energy density. In this work, we synthesize MoSe2 nanospheres on nickel foam (NF) through a simple one-step hydrothermal route. The improved electrode provides a capacity of 509 C g–1 at a current of 1 A g–1. When assembled into an asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC), the device achieves an energy density of 37.5 Wh kg–1 at a power density of 2700 W kg–1. Additionally, the ASC maintains 87.4% of its original capacity after 10,000 times cycling. The device also demonstrates excellent electrochemical and mechanical robustness after multiple bending.
