Model Predictive Control for MIMO Systems Integrated with Active Disturbance Rejection

Abstract

This paper presents a proposal for a novel predictive control scheme for uncertain and disturbed multi-input, multi-output (MIMO) systems. The proposed method is a fusion of a well-known and effective linear Model Predictive Control (MPC) and a modern concept, Active Disturbance Rejection Control (ADRC). The approach is to introduce a fictitious state that includes all possible uncertainties and disturbances originating from the plant that are unknown and not accounted for in the plant model and its estimation in real-time using an Extended State Observer (ESO). The estimated state is then used to generate control that supports the MPC controller with a simplified model of the plant. This leads to an easily designed, robust predictive control structure similar to the well-known tube-based method. It seems that the proposed control approach has potentially great advantages, is simple to implement, and is easy to tune. Due to this, it can be used in many control systems of difficult and inaccurately identified plants.

Disturbance Observer-based Model Predictive Control for a Twin Rotor MIMO System

This paper presents a disturbance observer–based model predictive control strategy for the position regulation of a twin rotor MIMO system (TRMS). The nonlinear dynamics of the TRMS are first rewritten as an uncertain linear time invariant (LTI) system with additive disturbances. An extended state observer (ESO) is the...

Model-free sliding mode control with estimated equivalent control signal

Sliding mode control (SMC) is a robust, precise and quite popular nonlinear control technique using a control signal having two parts: switching and equivalent control signals. In order to calculate the equivalent control signal, a model of the system to be controlled is necessary. However, modeling a system can be so...

Adaptive state observer for nonlinear systems with time-varying gain and output restrictions.

This paper proposes a novel adaptive state observer for nonlinear systems with uncertain mathematical models and output restrictions. The main contribution is the development of an observer architecture that does not require an accurate system model for its implementation. Instead, only a nominal reference model (A∗,B∗...

Reduced-Order ESO-Based Predictor Control for Time-Delay Processes

This paper proposes a control structure for SISO any-order time-delay processes. The proposed approach combines predictor-based strategies, known for its enhanced state and disturbance prediction capabilities, with a reduced-order extended state observer (ESO). To enhance robustness, a direct relationship is establishe...
