Analysis on the Development of Educational Equity and Cultural Integration from the Perspective of Intercultural Education
Abstract
Based on the ideas of intercultural education, this paper will explore the connection between educational equity and cultural integration, and investigate how institutions are addressing structural disadvantages in culturally diverse learning environments. As the student population ages around the world, educational institutions are under increasing pressure to balance the idea of equal opportunity for learning with the need to recognise differences in language, culture and ethnicity. This paper refers to the foundational and contemporary studies in multicultural and intercultural education to explore the conceptual conflicts and practical paths for achieving equity and cultural integration simultaneously. The three main ways schools achieve the goal of intercultural education, according to this paper, are culturally responsive pedagogy, inclusive curriculum design and language-affirming policies. Institutional barriers that limit equal opportunities for culturally minority students also include a standardised assessment system and deficit-oriented teacher attitudes. Sustainable educational equity should aim to change the values of teaching and achieve cultural recognition and social justice rather than just procedural inclusion.
