ICT Adoption and Corporate Sustainable Development: The Moderating Role of ITGRC

Abstract

In the contemporary business landscape, numerous enterprises confront the critical challenge of aligning corporate sustainability imperatives with operational demands and rapid technological advancements. Grounded in the TOE framework, this study investigates the mechanism through which information and communication technology adoption drives corporate sustainable development, while examining the mediating role of digital transformation and the moderating role of Information Technology Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance. Empirical data garnered from a questionnaire survey representing 418 distinct corporate entities were analyzed using SmartPLS software version 3.0. The empirical findings reveal that information and communication technology adoption exerts a significant positive effect on both digital transformation and corporate sustainable development, with digital transformation functioning as a vital mediating conduit. Additionally, Information Technology Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance acts as a positive moderator that amplifies the favorable impacts of both technology adoption and digital transformation on sustainable development outcomes. Theoretically, this study advances the literature by integrating the TOE framework, digital transformation, and corporate sustainability paradigms. Practically, it offers strategic insights for corporate decision-makers integrating digital transformation into organizational architectures. Ultimately, this research underscores Information Technology Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance as an indispensable governance dimension for deploying modern information systems to achieve sustainable development goals.
