Humanism-based Approach to English Teaching

Aug 2026 · 教育学文摘 · Vol 2, pp. 1 · 0 citations

Abstract

This article is grounded in Maslow's humanistic theory as presented in "Motivation and Personality," utilizing the hierarchy of needs and self-actualization theories to explore innovative approaches to English curriculum teaching methods and assessment. By analyzing the core elements of humanistic theory, it elucidates its implications for the selection and application of teaching methods and evaluation strategies in English education. In conjunction with the latest trends in English teaching and new curriculum standards, it integrates communicative approach methodologies, project-based learning, and modern instructional techniques. This enables educators to effectively navigate the dialectical relationship between teaching and learning, allowing students to fully exercise their agency. While ensuring comprehensive planning, it is essential to adopt a flexible, pragmatic, and innovative teaching style that aligns with humanistic principles and contemporary English instruction. The aim is to establish a student-centered English curriculum framework that emphasizes individual differences and holistic development, providing English educators with a theoretical and practical foundation for instructional design to enhance the quality of English teaching and student learning outcomes.
