Abstract

The project will help in solving the problem of the reliable and real-time monitoring of power transmission lines to help prevent faults and enable safety in the electrical distribution systems. Based on an ESP32/Node MCU microcontroller, a voltage and current sensors are created to create an IoT-based fault detection system that constantly monitors the transmission line parameters. The system detects abnormal conditions like short circuit, line break and over load using real-time edge processing data. When a fault is detected, instant notifications are created through the employment of a buzzer and indicating lights, whereas data is sent to the ThingSpeak cloud server to monitor it remotely and log the data. The suggested solution can improve fault response time, minimize manual inspection, and improve the system reliability. The results obtained through this experiment prove that it is very accurate in detecting faults and introducing edge and cloud technology so that it can be used in smart grids.
