TL;DR

It is shown that the problem is PSPACE -complete on oriented graphs, NP -complete on directed acyclic graphs (DAGs), and W -hard on DAGs when parameterized by k, and the NP -completeness of the bounded-length variant on DAGs is proved.

Abstract

A directed clique token sliding (TS) step in an oriented graph D replaces a vertex u of a k -clique of the underlying graph U ( D ) by an out-neighbor v of u , while requiring the new set to remain a k -clique of U ( D ) . The reachability problem generated by this directed move is studied. As far as the author knows, the combination of clique feasibility with direction-constrained TS moves has not been studied before. It is shown that the problem is PSPACE -complete on oriented graphs, NP -complete on directed acyclic graphs (DAGs), and W [1] -hard on DAGs when parameterized by k . The NP -completeness of the bounded-length variant on DAGs is also proved. On the positive side, an explicit polynomial-time reachability criterion for tournaments is derived by specializing known structural results on token digraphs, and polynomial-time algorithms are given for transitive oriented graphs, DAGs of any fixed depth, and oriented graphs D for which ω ( U ( D )) is bounded by a fixed constant.

Parameterizing the Complexity of Finding Long Paths in DAGs

This work studies the unambiguous complexity of the Long Path problem on DAGs under parameterization and obtains an algorithm that achieves unambiguous and co-unambiguous O ( k log n ) space while running in time polynomial in both n and k.

Instance-Optimality of Bidirectional Dijkstra on Simple Graphs

It is shown that bidirectional Dijkstra is still instance-optimal on simple undirected weighted graphs under the order-oblivious model, where incident edges are given in a random order, and under the order-dependent model, where bidirectional Dijkstra is not instance-optimal.

A novel approach for constructing a minimum spanning tree

It is proved that the classical cut property always produces a minimum spanning tree of a connected graph, and may be useful for large weighted networks such as communication networks, wiring connections, and transportation networks.

Local Representatives and Shortest Completions for Next-to-Shortest Paths in Directed Graphs

Given a directed graph with positive edge weights and two vertices s,t, a next-to-shortest s-t path is a shortest simple s-t path among those whose length is strictly larger than the shortest-path distance. The problem was introduced by Lalgudi, Papaefthymiou and Potkonjak in 1996; it is NP-hard when zero-weight edges...
