This study uses multi‐scale experiments and high‐precision predictive simulations to reveal the bending failure mode and porosity sensitivity of three‐dimensional orthogonal woven composites (3DOWC). X‐ray computed tomography (CT) and metallographic analysis yielded average porosity (1.78%) and yarn geometric parameters. A high‐precision predictive macroscale finite element (FE) model was built using TexGen and a custom Python script. A user‐defined material subroutine (VUMAT) with the 3D Hashin criterion simulated yarns' elastic anisotropic response and progressive damage. The model was validated by digital image correlation (DIC), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and bending tests. At 3% porosity, bending performance deteriorated: weft failure strain dropped 19.05%, maximum load and strength dropped 21.55%, and warp flexural modulus dropped 13.28%. Moreover, voids concentrated at the mid‐span region cause more severe degradation than those near the support ends, highlighting the location sensitivity of porosity effects. Simulations revealed that microstructures in primary load‐bearing yarns may induce delamination failure. This framework aids material optimization, such as by embedding high‐performance fibers in high‐stress zones.
This study investigates the manufacturing process, progressive damage behavior, and multiobjective structural optimization of 3D angle‐interlock woven composites (3DAWCs) fabricated via the resin transfer molding process. The 3DAWCs consist of T700‐12K carbon fiber preforms and an epoxy matrix system (LT‐5028A/B). A re...
This study investigates how geometric configurations and manufacturing parameters affect the crashworthiness performance of tubes printed by fused deposition modeling (FDM) using polymer filaments. Three distinct cross‐sectional geometries are evaluated using the standard polylactic acid (PLA), PLA PRO1, and carbon...

To reveal the effects of internal defects introduced by the automated fiber placement (AFP) process on the flexural performance and damage evolution behavior of CFRP laminates, orthogonally laminated CFRP plates, and CFRP laminates containing artificially introduced gaps were fabricated using AFP. Real internal struc...
This study investigates the mechanical behavior, failure mechanisms, and strength prediction of 3D‐printed concrete ribbed walls under compression, shear, and combined compression–shear loading. Four wall specimens with different internal rib configurations were tested under axial compression, while digital image cor...

This study presents a computational verification of three-dimensional (3D) elastic-plastic crack-tip fields, emphasizing the dual-parameter fracture mechanics framework (J–Q) through finite element analysis (FEA) in Ansys Mechanical. While single-parameter fracture mechanics (K or J dominance) adequately describes high...
