Abstract
The purpose of the study is to establish the specific features of the structural transformation of phraseological units containing the components “работа” (work) and “труд” (labor) in media texts. Based on data from the Newspaper Subcorpus of the Russian National Corpus, the article examines the techniques used in the structural transformation of phraseological units with the components “работа” and “труд” in newspaper texts, identifies their hierarchy, and describes the functions of the transformed units within media discourse. The scientific novelty of the study lies in examining phraseological units with the components “работа” and “труд” for the first time in terms of their structural transformational potential in media texts. Seven types of structural modifications were identified: expansion of component composition, syntactic transformations, morphological transformations, ellipsis, combined transformations, contamination, and lexical substitution. Expanding component composition was determined to be the dominant technique. The functions of structural transformations in media texts are described: specifying, evaluative-characterizing, expressive-attractive, and the function of syntactically adapting phraseological units to the structure of the media text. As a result, it was established that structural transformations of phraseological units with the components “работа” and “труд” in media texts serve as a regular means of formal and semantic renewal of fixed expressions, realizing a complex set of pragmatic functions.
