Abstract

To address power flow congestion at critical transmission sections in the Central China Power Grid, this study analyzes the current situation, underlying causes, and mitigation strategies. By integrating regional grid-source-load coordination capabilities, the proportion of renewable energy in transmission corridors, and multi-level market operational characteristics, an integrated Central China electricity market model is developed. Leveraging a cross-provincial bundled trading mechanism involving diverse market participants and incorporating joint peak shaving, reserve, and frequency regulation market operations, the study derives grid security constraints under multi-resource coordinated transactions and proposes a joint optimization clearing model for cross-regional and inter-provincial markets. Additionally, it compiles transaction rules from four market categories to establish a rule repository and formulates congestion management standards for transmission corridors. This research provides theoretical and technical foundations for efficient utilization of cross-regional transmission corridors and standardized congestion management.

Regional Coordination of Electricity Pricing, Cross-Border Interconnection and Shared Storage for the West African Power Pool

National electricity-planning frameworks are increasingly constrained by their inability to internalise cross-border complementarities in renewable resources, demand profiles and flexibility needs. This paper evaluates whether a regionally coordinated dynamic-pricing mechanism, combined with cross-border interconnectio...

Regional Role Matching and Energy Temporal Coupling-Based Coordinated Dispatch of Multiple Pumped Storage Plants Under Zonal Transmission Constraints

Although large-scale wind and solar power provide green electricity, their intermittency and reverse-peak characteristics pose severe challenges to the secure operation of power systems. Pumped storage hydropower (PSH), as the most mature and economically attractive large-scale energy storage technology, enables tempor...

Multi-Time Scale Collaborative Clearing Model of Centralized Control Resources Based on Willingness Feasible Region

With increasing renewable energy penetration and continued electricity market reform, clearing models that consider only physical constraints may overestimate the actual regulation capability of market resources. To address this issue, this paper proposes a multi-timescale coordinated clearing model based on the willin...

Distributed energy resources in the electricity supply market: participation pathways, applications, challenges, and key recommendations—a European perspective

Decarbonization, electrification, and digitalization are reshaping European electricity systems by increasing the role of distributed energy resources in flexibility provision, local resilience, and market participation. However, the value of distributed resources is not defined by technology characteristics alone. It...
