TL;DR

Evaluated delirium and BPSD longitudinally during hospitalisation in older patients with hip fractures and identified factors associated with improvement in ADL to identify factors influencing functional recovery.

Abstract

In older patients with hip fractures, delirium and behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) during hospitalisation have been reported to impede recovery of activities of daily living (ADL). As delirium and BPSD may fluctuate throughout hospitalisation, improving ADL requires longitudinal assessment of these symptoms and clarification of factors influencing functional recovery. This study aimed to evaluate delirium and BPSD longitudinally during hospitalisation in older patients with hip fractures and identify factors associated with improvement in ADL.

Sarcopenia and cognitive impairment after hip fracture in older adults: a narrative review and conceptual rehabilitation framework

Hip fracture in later life is followed by high mortality, incomplete recovery of mobility, and frequent loss of independence. Association Between Barthel Index and Delirium During Hospitalization in Older Patients with Acute Decompensated Heart Failure

Background: Although delirium is an acute confusional state, the available literature identifies impaired activities of daily living (ADL) as a predisposing factor. However, the question of whether ADL is associated with delirium in older patients with heart failure (HF) has not been evaluated. This study investigated...

The Predictive Value of The 9-Point Clinical Frailty Scale on Outcomes in Older Adults with Hip Fracture: A Systematic Review

Abstract Hip fracture is a major cause of morbidity, mortality, and functional decline among older adults. Frailty has emerged as an important prognostic factor in this population, and the Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS) offers a rapid and practical method for assessing frailty. This systematic review assessed the prognos...
