Teacher Well-Being through the Lens of Work-Life Balance Based on Islamic Values: A Conceptual Model for the Well-Being of Educators

Sep 2026 · Journal of Teaching and Learning · Vol 5, pp. 337-349 · 0 citations

Abstract

The high administrative workload faced by teachers in the digital era frequently triggers burnout and an imbalance between professional and personal life. This study aims to construct a Work-Life Balance (WLB) model integrated with Islamic values as a human resource management strategy in educational institutions. This library research employs content analysis to synthesize WLB theory with Islamic work ethics. The discussion covers the concept of WLB from a global perspective, the internalization of prophetic values such as amanah and itqan, and the implementation of empathetic leadership. The findings show that WLB from an Islamic perspective is not merely a division of time between work and family, but a spiritual integration in which work is regarded as a righteous deed (amal shaleh). By applying a WLB model grounded in Haqqun Nafsi and professionalism, Islamic educational institutions can enhance teacher well-being and institutional quality. This construct provides a framework for school principals to build a supportive organizational culture, prevent burnout, and strengthen educators' spiritual motivation.
