Abstract
This article examines the platformization of domestic work in Brazil and its contribution to the intensification of precarization, particularly among poor Black women. Based on a comparative survey of platforms (Parafuzo, GetNinjas, Donamaid, Famyle), Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) data, and journalistic investigations, the study analyzes business models, control mechanisms, and discourses of autonomy. Drawing on Saffioti, Brites, Abílio, and others, the analysis shows how algorithmic mediation reproduces historical inequalities of gender, race, and class. Findings indicate that the absence of labor protections, dependence on ratings, and transfer of risks constitute a regime of subordinated self-management. The article concludes that the digitalization of domestic work reinforces structural hierarchies and requires specific regulatory measures.
This article offers a critical analysis of the platformization of labor in the Brazilian context, understanding it as a renewed expression of the neoliberal logic of flexibilization and social unprotection. It argues that algorithmic intermediation does not inaugurate a novel form of service provision, but rather inten...
