Reproducibility Package for "A 21-Year ERA5 Climatology of Persistent Contrail Formation Potential over Azerbaijan and the South Caucasus"

Sep 2026 · Zenodo (CERN European Organization for Nuclear Research)

Abstract

This reproducibility package supports the manuscript “A 21-Year ERA5 Climatology of Persistent Contrail Formation Potential over Azerbaijan and the South Caucasus.” It contains the Google Colab notebooks used for ARCO-ERA5 data retrieval, quality control, persistent contrail formation potential calculations, climatological aggregation, statistical trend analysis, sensitivity testing, and figure production. It also includes machine-readable result tables, audit reports, figure files, and the final software-environment record. The analysis covers January 2005–December 2025 (252 complete months) over 38–44°N and 40–52°E at 0.25° horizontal resolution, eight pressure levels from 150 to 400 hPa, and eight 3-hourly UTC times per day. Persistent contrail formation potential was evaluated using the Schmidt–Appleman criterion and RHi thresholds of 100%, 110%, and 120%. Raw ERA5 fields are not redistributed. The package contains derived diagnostic and aggregated research outputs. The final automated audit passed all 33 checks.

The impact of agile practices on communication in software development

The study shows that agile practices improve both informal and formal communication, but indicates that, in larger development situations involving multiple external stakeholders, a mismatch of adequate communication mechanisms can sometimes even hinder the communication.
