Professional Development of English Language Teachers through Artificial Intelligence

Sep 2026 · International journal of social science and human research · 0 citations

Abstract

This study examines the significance of professional development for teachers and explores the dimensions through which artificial intelligence (AI) reshapes that process. Through a conceptual review of AI-supported mentoring and coaching, teacher confidence, self-efficacy, self-direction, reflective practice, simulation-based skill development, and personalized learning, the paper shows that AI enables unrestricted, safe, and highly effective professional development for English language teachers. While conventional methods offered learning in isolated episodes disconnected from classroom reality, the approach discussed here treats professional development as an ongoing, context-sensitive process. The purpose of this study is thus to demonstrate that AI-powered professional development is highly effective and indispensable for advancing individual teachers.
