ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT: OPPORTUNITIES, CHALLENGES AND THE FUTURE OF HR PRACTICES
Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly becoming an important technology in Human Resource Management (HRM). AI-enabled systems can support recruitment, candidate screening, employee onboarding, learning and development, performance management, workforce planning, employee engagement, HR analytics and routine administrative activities. This conceptual study examines the opportunities and challenges associated with the adoption of AI in HRM and discusses how organizations can use AI while retaining meaningful human judgment. The study is based on a review and synthesis of existing academic and institutional literature. It does not use primary survey data or fabricated empirical results. The analysis identifies major areas in which AI can improve speed, efficiency, consistency, personalization and decision support. At the same time, concerns relating to bias, privacy, transparency, data quality, employee trust, cybersecurity and over-automation are considered. A conceptual Responsible AI-HRM framework is proposed around strategic alignment, data governance, fairness, transparency, human oversight, capability development and continuous monitoring.
