Environmental biotechnology is rapidly reshaping how societies manage pollution, conserve resources, and transition toward sustainable systems. As these technologies advance, they increasingly intersect with complex policy frameworks, regulatory requirements, and ethical considerations. This review examines the evolving governance landscape surrounding applications such as bioremediation, waste-to-energy conversion, and engineered microbial systems. It explores how national and international regulations aim to balance innovation with environmental and public safety, highlighting gaps in oversight for emerging tools like synthetic biology and gene-edited organisms. Ethical dimensions—including risk– benefit evaluation, community participation, data transparency, and long-term ecological impacts—are critically analyzed to guide responsible decision-making. By integrating scientific progress with policy analysis, this review emphasizes the need for adaptive regulatory mechanisms, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and inclusive governance. Ultimately, the paper underscores that navigating environmental biotechnology requires harmonizing technological promise with societal values and robust ethical stewardship.
Some claim that especially in the field of agile software development the research lags years behind of the practice. In this paper, we characterize the status and main challenges for research on agile software development, and propose a preliminary roadmap, focusing on providing more empirical research, primarily on e...

Agile methods continue to gain popularity. In particular, the Scrum method appears to be on the verge of becoming a de-facto standard in the industry, leading the so called Agile movement. While there are success stories and recommendations, there is little scientifically valid evidence of the challenges in the adoptio...
