Digital Twins and FOMO Messaging Impact Consumer Behavior in Investment E-Commerce Platforms
Abstract
This paper investigates the intersection of Digital Twin personalization and Fear of Missing Out (FOMO)-driven promotional messaging on consumer behavior within investment e-commerce platforms, using Indonesian fintech platform Pluang as the primary case study. Brand24, an AI-powered social listening tool that tracks and analyzes public mentions across social media platforms, was used as the primary instrument for data collection and sentiment analysis over a one-month monitoring period from April 26 to May 26, 2026, capturing 15,000 total mentions and approximately 70 million in total reach. Brand24's AI-driven sentiment classification, Presence Score indexing, and source-breakdown analytics enabled detailed mapping of how FOMO-based financial communications spread across digital channels and were received by different audience segments. Financial literacy, defined here as the ability of users to understand and critically evaluate investment-related communications, is examined as a moderating factor. Findings indicate that FOMO-based push notifications achieve high engagement rates among correctly profiled users, suggesting a positive relationship between personalized urgency messaging and short-term investment action. The platform's Presence Score of 72/100, exceeding 84% of similar investment platforms, signals strong brand resonance. However, a 45% decline in total mentions compared to the previous month (March 26–April 25, 2026) reveals engagement volatility reflecting the tension between effective FOMO activation and longer-term notification fatigue. The research proposes a feedback loop pattern linking Digital Twin behavioral data updates to progressively targeted FOMO messaging, and examines how AI-powered social listening tools like Brand24 both reveal and reinforce the communicative dynamics of algorithmic persuasion in fintech marketing contexts.
