Abstract

The APEX Microwave Kinetic Inductance Detector (AMKID) camera is a dual-color wide field-of-view camera based on kinetic inductance detectors installed at the 12-meter APEX telescope. It is equipped with an unprecedented number of pixels: 13952 detectors in the high frequency band (350um) and 3520 detectors in the low frequency band (870um) covering a field of view of 15.3’x15.3’. The instrument’s low frequency channel has been fully verified and is currently starting science operation. With beam sizes of 17.5’’ and a median sensitivity of 2.2 mK sqrt(s), the array is able to map one square degree down to 16 mJy noise level in one hour. Here we present an overview of the obtained results during the instrument verification campaign. Of particular interest are the first results obtained with the High Frequency Array (HFA) of the instrument, which has been tested during the first half of 2026.
