Jul 2026 · Journal of Asia-Pacific Pop Culture · 0 citations

Abstract

The overarching objective of the present study is to provide a more comprehensive understanding of recent research trends in cosplay from 2000 to 2023, as well as to identify the research gaps. This study employed a systematic literature review combined with qualitative interpretations and bibliometric visual analysis (VOSviewer and CitNetExplorer). This mixed-methods approach can identify the evolution of cosplay research, major publication outlets, key research topics, geographic distribution, commonly used methodologies, influential scholars, and leading academic institutions, therebfy providing valuable insights into the study of popular culture and fandom through the lens of cosplay. A comprehensive literature search in the Web of Science database yielded 114 relevant journal articles for subsequent analysis. The findings of this study provide insights into the trends and evolution of cosplay research while also highlighting several significant areas which need further investigation, such as cross-national and non-Western studies, cosplay and tourism, cosplay and well-being, cosplay and religion, and research involving diverse demographic groups.

A bibliometric mapping of discourse analysis research in Türkiye: Trends, collaboration and scholarly impact

This article, which presents a bibliometric analysis of discourse analysis research in Türkiye, systematically evaluates nearly 50 years of production in the field using the Scopus database. The findings of the research indicate that discourse studies in Türkiye are predominantly concentrated in the social sciences and humanities. The most prominent thematic concentrations are on political discourse, nationalism, populism, gender, and European Union debates. While Critical Discourse Analysis stands out as the dominant methodological approach, innovative techniques such as multimodal analysis or corpus-based methods appear to be insufficient. An examination of language preferences reveals that English is overwhelmingly preferred for global visibility, while Turkish remains an important local production language. Institutional performance analyses reveal that Bilkent, Koç, and Boğaziçi universities hold leading positions in terms of both publication volume and citation impact. An examination of collaborative networks among authors reveals that individuals such as Deniz Zeyrek and Bedrettin Yazan play a central role. However, it is also true that a significant portion of the 2,883 authors remain outside these collaborative networks. International collaborations and citation rates demonstrate that the integration of researchers in Türkiye with the global academy is becoming increasingly stronger, but this interaction can be further enhanced. The study also points to significant gaps in the existing literature. The limited number of discourse studies in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, the inadequate research in contemporary contexts such as digital platforms and artificial intelligence, and the limited methodological diversity are among the most prominent shortcomings.

Bibliometric Analysis of the B Corp Movement: Implications for Researchers in Türkiye

This study aims to map the intellectual and conceptual landscape of the B Corp movement within the scientific literature through a quantitative bibliometric analysis. Utilising the Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection database, the research analyses 108 peer-reviewed articles published between 2007 and 2025. Data visualisation and network analysis, including co-authorship and keyword co-occurrence, were performed using the VOSviewer software. The results show that the number of publications has been growing exponentially since 2011, and the majority of the articles are in the business and management field. A total of 282 keywords were evaluated, and “B Corp” (total link strength: 315) and “Corporate Social Responsibility” (total link strength: 92) were identified as central conceptual pillars. The most cited influential work is by Julie Battilana and Alnoor Ebrahim, with 728 citations. Geographic concentration is still strong in the USA and Europe, but research on emerging economies, such as Türkiye, where there are presently 15 certified B Corps, is critically lacking. The results show a conceptual move from general corporate responsibility to specific issues of 'social impact' and 'employee ownership'. The paper concludes with a research agenda for future research that can help bridge the gap between global norms and local institutional contexts, particularly for researchers in Türkiye.

The Authenticity & Aspiration Paradox in Influencer Marketing: A Systematic Review Analysis

In the contemporary marketing world, social media influencers are expected to appear genuine, and relatable while simultaneously presenting their lifestyles, achievements, and consumption patterns that followers may admire and aspire to emulate. Although authenticity and aspiration are both integral aspects in influencer marketing but generally examined through separate theoretical perspectives. However, limited attention has been given to the study of how these two aspects coexist, complement one another, or create tension when coexist. The present study addresses this gap through a systematic literature review supported by bibliometric visualization. A comprehensive literature search was conducted using multi-database and a total of 354 research studies published between 2015 and 2026 were identified for initial screening. The systematic review followed PRISMA framework that helped in identification, screening, inclusion, and exclusion of studies. Following the relevance-based screening 55 studies were retained for the review. VOSviewer is used to visualize the bibliographic structure of the reviewed literature. The thematic synthesis focused on two domains basically influencer authenticity and aspirational appeal. The findings indicate that authenticity is perceived as genuineness, trustworthiness, credibility, and reliability between an influencers’ identity and commercial activities. Whereas, aspirational appeal is understood through para social relationships, admiration, inspiration, role modelling and the desire to emulate an influencers’ lifestyle and recommendations. Based on these finding, the study proposed Authenticity Aspiration Matrix comprising four combinations: Relatable Influencer, Credible Influencer, Transactional Influencer, Idealized Influencer. The study focused on complementary and competing expectations placed on contemporary influencers and provide directions for future research related to influencer marketing.

Systematic review and bibliometric insights into street vending: mapping scholarly contributions and emerging themes (2000–2025)

This study aims to offer a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of global scientific literature on street vendors. Although there has been an increase in publications in the field of street vending and street entrepreneurship in recent years, this study attempts to assess publishing trends, patterns of scholarly collaboration, thematic focus areas and overall research impact, thereby conducting a literature review of key empirical studies to understand the definition, legality and challenges associated with street vending. This study seeks to create a robust conceptual and empirical framework to facilitate the progression of future research in this under-examined yet essential aspect of urban informal economies. To thoroughly examine this topic, this study uses the Bibliometric VOSviewer 1.6.20 and the biblioshiny software for a bibliometric analysis, using Elsevier-Scopus as the database covering literature of the past 25 years from 2000 to 2025. The results were represented and discussed with the following approaches: references (research paper), countries, keywords, authors and institutions, and the key findings were graphically represented. The findings underline the relevance of interdisciplinary approaches. The majority of contemporary research on street vendors and street entrepreneurs is rooted in public policy and urban planning, integrating bibliometric analysis and a systematic literature review. This study demonstrates originality as it is one of the first studies to use a bibliometric analysis with a systematic approach to provide a detailed account of the state of the literature on street vendors and street entrepreneurs at a global level over more than 24 years. This paper contributed as a comprehensive global-level synthesis, identifying major conceptual shifts, dominant research clusters and emerging directions. This advancement would strengthen the originality claim.
