Abstract
ABSTRACT Objective: To develop and validate a booklet for transitioning children dependent on technology and complex care from hospital to home care. Method: Methodological study, linked to the nursing department of the Universidade Estadual de Maringá, conducted between August and December 2023 and divided into four stages: 1) a literature review on the necessary care for children with complex needs transitioning from hospital to home; 2) the creation of a booklet; 3) content validation through experts using the Content Validity Index (CVI), accepting the value of >0.8 per item and >0.8 for the global CVI; 4) implementation of necessary corrections. The assessment instrument was constructed using a Likert-type scale. The validation was developed electronically and carried out by eight experts. For data analysis, the statistics described were used. Results: The booklet was developed around seven main topics: presentation, warning signs in pediatrics, handwashing, oxygen therapy, gastrostomy, tracheostomy, and references. Subsequently, it was validated with a global CVI of 0.94. Individually, the evaluation of the items reached a CVI of 1.00 for objectives, 0.90 for content, 0.87 for language, 1.00 for relevance, 0.95 for layout, 1.00 for motivation, and 0.87 for culture. Conclusion: The booklet received a favorable CVI in all criteria individually, with all scores above 0.80 and a global value of 0.94, demonstrating that it has the support to be implemented and disseminated within the scientific community.
The digital booklet, available free of charge, proved to be a valid and engaging educational technology capable of providing family members with practical and accessible guidance on essential child healthcare at home after hospital discharge.
