This chapter explores the transformative role of clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/Cas9 genome editing in modern crop improvement through an in-depth analysis of successful case studies. It begins with an overview of CRISPR/Cas technology, tracing its evolution from traditional genetic modification methods to its current application in enhancing yield, nutritional quality, disease resistance, and abiotic stress tolerance in key staple crops. Highlighted examples include gene edits in rice (DEP1 and OsNAC14), maize (KRN2), wheat (TaGW2 and MLO), soybean (FAD2-1A), tomato (SlINVINH1), cassava (CYP79D1), citrus (CsLOB1), and banana (MLO-like genes). This chapter also examines the challenges of regulatory approvals, consumer perceptions, and scalability of CRISPR crops, emphasizing China’s regulatory model and the global divergence in policy. Through evidence-based cases, it underscores the potential of CRISPR to address food security, environmental sustainability, and nutritional deficiencies while highlighting future research needs and socioeconomic considerations for widespread adoption.
Some claim that especially in the field of agile software development the research lags years behind of the practice. In this paper, we characterize the status and main challenges for research on agile software development, and propose a preliminary roadmap, focusing on providing more empirical research, primarily on e...

Agile methods continue to gain popularity. In particular, the Scrum method appears to be on the verge of becoming a de-facto standard in the industry, leading the so called Agile movement. While there are success stories and recommendations, there is little scientifically valid evidence of the challenges in the adoptio...
