TL;DR

The p16+/Rb partial loss pattern was exclusively associated with metastatic HPV-related SCC, whereas primary lung SCC demonstrated distinct p16 and Rb expression profiles, suggesting a lower prevalence than previously reported.

Lymphatic Spread Patterns in HPV+ vs. HPV- Oropharyngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Multi-Center European Analysis

Background: Human papillomavirus (HPV)-positive oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) shows higher prevalence of lymph node metastases than HPV-negative OPSCC. It remains unclear whether HPV-positive and HPV-negative OPSCC differ in occult metastasis risk, which is relevant to personalize elective nodal treatme...

Distinct Rb expression pattern in HPV-associated neuroendocrine carcinomas of the uterine cervix.

AIMS This study aimed to characterize high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) infection and the expression patterns of p16, Rb, p53 and cyclin D1 in uterine cervical neuroendocrine carcinomas (UCNECs). We also aimed to clarify the similarities and differences between UCNECs and pulmonary neuroendocrine carcinomas (NECs...

Investigation of human papillomavirus infections and the expression of related genes in epithelial dysplasias and squamous cell carcinomas of the oral mucosa

We studied the prevalence of human papillomavirus (HPV) infections in patients with epithelial dysplasia and squamous cell carcinoma of the oral mucosa, as well as the expression of p53, p53 (mutant type), Rb, p16, p21 and cyclin D1. The subjects were patients with irritation fibroma (IF), mild dysplasia (MiD), moderat...

HPV Detection by RT-PCR in Laryngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma: Correlation with p16 Expression, Histopathology, and Prognosis.

OBJECTIVE The aim of the study was to determine HPV incidence among laryngeal squamous cell carcinomas (LSCC) using HPV E6/E7 mRNA RT-PCR and to compare diagnostic capabilities of p16 immunohistochemistry against it. With the data gathered, the relationship between HPV status, pathological and clinical parameters will...

Comparative analysis of human papilloma virus detection methods and prognostic significance of transcriptionally active viral load in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma.

The multiplex approach accurately detected active HPV in HNSCC primary tumours and metastases, including archival tissue > 20 years old, and viral load was identified as an independent predictor of overall survival, maintaining prognostic significance even after adjusting for age, stage and lifestyle factors.

Squamous cell carcinoma arising from ovarian mature cystic teratoma with concurrent cervical high-risk HPV infection and low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion: a case report

Malignant transformation of ovarian mature cystic teratoma (MCT) is uncommon, with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) being the predominant type. Its pathogenesis remains poorly understood, and the potential role of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is controversial. A 58-year-old postmenopausal woman presented with a hu...
