Abstract
This editorial refers to ‘Feasibility and clinical significance of cardiovascular magnetic resonance derived hemodynamic force assessment in aortic valve stenosis’, by S.J. Backhaus et al. The study by Backhaus et al. 1 enters a central debate in aortic stenosis: the search for the optimal timing of valve replacement has shifted attention from the valve to the myocardium.
Quadricuspid aortic valve is a rare congenital anomaly usually associated with regurgitation. A young woman underwent surveillance after cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated four equal cusps in diastole but bicuspid-type systolic opening from fusion of the left and non-coronary cusps. By 2025, eccentr...

Ventricular arrhythmias (VA) after percutaneous pulmonary valve implantation (PPVI) have been mainly reported with balloon‐expandable valves. Data on VA following self‐expandable valves, particularly the Pulsta valve, remain limited.

A 73-year-old female patient with atrial fibrillation and dialysis-dependent kidney disease had a size 25 porcine bioprosthesis (second surgical replacement due to rheumatic fever) that had been dysfunctional for 4 years. She underwent transapical MViV (STS score 5.38) and developed PVT 60 days after the procedure, wit...

Catastrophic complications of coronary artery compression after percutaneous pulmonary valve implantation (PPVI) are uncommon in patients with a dysfunctional native right ventricular outflow tract after Tetralogy of Fallot repair (rTOF). Nonetheless, we report three rTOFs with a high risk of compromising coronary bloo...

Endocardial right ventricular (EnRV) leads are described as a potential cause of native tricuspid valve regurgitation (TR). Need for cardiac pacing after tricuspid valve surgery is common, but little is known about the postoperative consequences of EnRV compared to epicardial right ventricular (EpiRV) lead implantation...

Abstract Rheumatic heart disease (RHD) remains a major global public health challenge because of its substantial morbidity and mortality, predominantly affecting the mitral valve. Although its prevalence is higher in developing countries, the disease continues to be diagnosed, albeit less frequently, in developed natio...
