This study aimed to investigate how genetic predisposition to adiposity might influence ALS through specific lipid metabolic pathways.

Abstract

Although both pre‐symptomatic adiposity and dysregulated lipid metabolism are implicated in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), the mechanistic pathways linking adiposity to disease remain unclear. This study aimed to investigate how genetic predisposition to adiposity might influence ALS through specific lipid metabolic pathways.

Plasma Proteomic Signatures Predict Incident Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis: A Prospective Study Stratified by C9orf72 Expansion

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive and fatal neurological disorder for which reliable preclinical biomarkers to predict disease onset are currently lacking. Plasma proteomics offers a promising avenue for early detection. The identification of plasma proteins and pathways associated with incident ALS...

mTORC1 Activation Links Chronic Stress to Meso‐Circuit Desynchronization and Accelerated Amyloid Pathology via Autophagic Dysfunction

Chronic stress‐induced mTORC1 hyperactivation is associated with autophagic impairment, contributing to macro‐circuit desynchronization and accelerated amyloid accumulation, which represents a potential therapeutic approach to mitigate neural network breakdown and neuropathology in stress‐related neurodegenerative cond...

The effect of a tailored dietary intervention on serum biomarkers and faecal microbiome composition in people with HIV at risk of cardiovascular disease

People with HIV (PWH) are at higher risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) despite spontaneous or antiretroviral therapy‐induced long‐lasting suppressed viremia. Traditional and HIV‐specific factors have been identified, but CVD incidence and mortality remain high. A microbiome is a community of germs living close to the...

Domain-specific associations of metabolomic features with cognition and neural networks among cognitively normal adults

Background Alterations in systemic metabolism may reflect biological processes relevant to brain function and cognitive aging, yet the extent to which circulating metabolites relate to both cognitive performance and underlying neural network activity remains unclear. Methods The current study included 112 cognitively n...
