Abstract
Professionals have long used software built for them by others. This article reports the growth of a professional computer-assisted interpreting (CAI) tool built by its own user, a conference interpreter without programming training. Drawing on an eight-week version-controlled record with telemetry from 133 logged sessions and over 20,000 recognized utterances, the article traces how real conference work drove the tool through 62 commits and six versions. The record shows capabilities deployed on the day their need appeared and one strategy change that cut median end-to-end delay by over a third within one afternoon. The article then proposes the paradigm of practice-grown tools, defined by the shift from using to growing, the co-evolution of tool and practice through breakdown and repair, bounded local computation, and an assessment corollary, and it formulates three propositions toward tool-inclusive assessment of practitioners, from tool-making literacy to a compute-standardized format for certifying what they and their tools achieve together.
This publication proposes a definition and a classification of agile software development approaches and analyses ten software development methods that can be characterized as being "agile" against the defined criterion.

The study shows that agile practices improve both informal and formal communication, but indicates that, in larger development situations involving multiple external stakeholders, a mismatch of adequate communication mechanisms can sometimes even hinder the communication.

The results indicate that software engineering work practices are chosen opportunistically, adapted and configured to provide value under the constrains imposed by the startup context.

The perception of the impact of agile methods is predominantly positive, and several challenge areas were discovered, but based on this study, agile methods are here to stay.

Short chart specifications are easy to write, but often produce uninspiring results. Flint is an open-source visualization language that offers a middle path, letting AI agents create expressive charts from compact, human-editable specifications. AI agents can generate code at a scale that’s hard for humans to review line-by-line. PDD Kit helps ensure the code is doing what the developer intended by creating formal specifications and testing against them. It converts developer intent into a Verus specification, proves AI-generated code meets it for every input, and uses tests where proofs aren't practical. Developers review intent, not every line.
