Automated Measurements of Fluorescence in Spatially Defined Regions of Pollen Tubes.

This chapter describes how regions of interest can be created and used to assess distributions in tubular cells using two ImageJ macros, enabling efficient and precise identification of the pollen tube plasma membrane and tip, based on a few imprecisely marked points.

Three-dimensional ultrastructural analysis of fertilization-defective Arabidopsis mutants using STEM and array tomography.

Double fertilization in angiosperms is completed by the fusion of two sperm cells with the egg and central cells. While sperm membrane proteins such as GEX2, DMP8/9, and GCS1/HAP2 have been identified as key regulators of gamete attachment and fusion, their specific ultrastructural roles within the embryo sac have rema...

Actin‐Depolymerizing Factor Subgroup I Members Negatively Regulate Pollen Tube Growth in Fortunella hindsii

Two pollen‐abundant ADF genes, FhADF1 and FhADF2, are characterized in Hongkong kumquat and suggest that ADF1 is a conserved negative regulator of pollen tube growth in crops and may help plants respond to heat stress during pollen development.
