TL;DR
Salivary BDNF levels significantly decreased after the standardized eating task and did not correlate with plasma BDNF levels, suggesting that salivary BDNF may not serve as a simple surrogate marker for systemic BDNF levels in community-dwelling older adults.
The inverse relationship between BDNF and S100 B suggests a link between neurotrophic and neuroinflammatory processes and nursing interventions that enhance BDNF may also affect S100 B level, which may foster brain health in older adults.

A single afternoon salivary cortisol measurement was not associated with same-day state anxiety in community-dwelling older adults in Japan during the COVID-19 pandemic, and this null finding should be interpreted in the context of the present study design and measurement approach.
Exercise is associated with significant BDNF increases in neurological populations with MS and PD, particularly with longer sessions and combined training, and findings should be considered hypothesis-generating.

The findings support the potential role of salivary Aβ 42 as a non-invasive extracerebral biomarker of neurodegenerative disease, such as Alzheimer's disease, such as Alzheimer's disease.

BACKGROUND
Increasing evidence suggests that diet influences gut microbiota composition and systemic inflammation, which in turn may affect brain health, cognitive function, and mood regulation. Elevated levels of systemic inflammation have been associated with reduced resting-state functional connectivity within the d...
