TL;DR

Diabetic kidney disease exhibits substantial clinical heterogeneity, ranging from the classic proteinuric phenotype to the increasingly recognised nonproteinuric phenotype, but cardiovascular, kidney and all‐cause mortality risks across these phenotypes remain incompletely characterised.

Abstract

Diabetic kidney disease (DKD), a major microvascular complication of diabetes, is the leading cause of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and progression to end‐stage kidney disease (ESKD). DKD exhibits substantial clinical heterogeneity, ranging from the classic proteinuric phenotype to the increasingly recognised nonproteinuric phenotype. However, cardiovascular, kidney and all‐cause mortality risks across these phenotypes remain incompletely characterised.

Association Between Serum Homocysteine and Chronic Kidney Disease Severity in Vietnamese Outpatients With Type 2 Diabetes: A Cross‐Sectional Study

CKD is a major complication of T2DM and a leading cause of end‐stage kidney disease. Because urinary albumin‐to‐creatinine ratio (UACR) and eGFR have recognized limitations, additional biomarkers may help characterize kidney dysfunction. HCY is frequently elevated in CKD and may reflect pathways of renal injury. We eva...

Association between serum lactate dehydrogenase and prevalence of diabetic kidney disease in Chinese patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus: a cross-sectional study

Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is an autoimmune disease marked by irreversible loss of pancreatic β -cells, which ultimately causes insulin deficiency and hyperglycemia. As of 2022, the global prevalence reached 8.75 million cases [1]. T1DM demonstrates a rising global incidence [2] and marked autoimmune comorbidity (...

Microvascular dysfunction in chronic kidney disease: A feasibility study

Microvascular dysfunction contributes to PAD progression, and its detection may facilitate earlier recognition and risk stratification. People with advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD) have a high burden of PAD, yet early detection is limited by disease‐related changes, such as medial calcification. Near‐infrared spec...

Long‐Term Renal Function and Clinical Outcomes of Sacubitril/Valsartan in HFrEF and Stage 3–4 Chronic Kidney Disease: A 24‐Month Single‐Centre Cohort

Stage 3–4 chronic kidney disease (CKD) is common in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) but remains underrepresented in angiotensin receptor–neprilysin inhibitor (ARNI) trials, fostering reluctance to initiate sacubitril/valsartan (S/V).
