Abstract
ABSTRACT
Learning burnout is a common problem experienced by students during the learning process, particularly in Social Studies (IPS), which tends to be theoretical in nature. The lack of innovative learning media may reduce students' interest and participation in classroom learning. This study aimed to examine the effect of Canva-based Social Studies learning media on students' learning burnout at SMP Negeri 15 Malang. The research employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The participants consisted of 33 students from Class VIII H selected through saturated sampling. Data were collected using a learning burnout questionnaire based on a four-point Likert scale that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, and effect size analysis with the assistance of SPSS software. The findings indicated that the use of Canva-based Social Studies learning media had a significant effect on reducing students' learning burnout. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test yielded a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores. Furthermore, the effect size value of 0.88 indicated a large effect, demonstrating that the use of Canva had a strong impact on reducing students' learning burnout. Therefore, Canva-based Social Studies learning media can be considered an effective alternative for creating a more engaging, interactive, and enjoyable learning environment, thereby increasing students' participation and reducing learning burnout.
