Findings indicate that the digital project-based learning model effectively fosters active participation, collaborative learning, and meaningful understanding of religious values in Islamic education at SMP Negeri 1 Ciwidey.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine whether the digital project-based learning model could improve student engagement and learning outcomes in Islamic education at SMP Negeri 1 Ciwidey, specifically on belief in the Prophets and Messengers of Allah. The study employed Classroom Action Research consisting of two cycles, each comprising four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Research subjects were 31 students in Cycle I and 27 in Cycle II from class VIII. Data were collected through observation checklists, an essay-based online quiz, and a digital project assessment rubric and analyzed using descriptive quantitative methods. Results demonstrated measurable improvement across both cycles. In Cycle I, student engagement averaged 59.17%, with 25.80% of students scoring below the KKM. In Cycle II, engagement improved to 78.33%, with no students below the KKM, and 77.78% achieved good to excellent grades. These findings indicate that the digital project-based learning model effectively fosters active participation, collaborative learning, and meaningful understanding of religious values.
