REDUCTION OF THE BANK OF RUSSIA'S KEY RATE: MARKET SIGNALS AND MACROECONOMIC RISKS

2026 · EKONOMIKA I UPRAVLENIE: PROBLEMY, RESHENIYA · Vol 6/10, pp. 204-209 · 0 citations

Abstract

The article analyzes the decision of the Bank of Russia dated July 2026 to reduce the key rate by 25 basis points to 14.25% per annum. The reactions of segments of the Russian financial market to this decision of the regulator are investigated. The factors limiting the pace of monetary policy easing are considered: the stimulating nature of the federal budget, the continuing tension in the labor market and the risks associated with the situation in the domestic fuel market. Special attention is paid to a comparative analysis of the approaches of the world's leading central banks (the US Federal Reserve, the ECB, and the People's Republic of China) to interest rate regulation, as well as forecasts of the key rate trajectory until the end of 2026. The author comes to the conclusion that monetary policy remains cautious and dependent on incoming macroeconomic data.
