Building a Robust Framework for the Management of Energy and Water Efficiency in SMEs

2025 · Proceedings of the 1st International Conference on Interdisciplinary Technology & Science Convergence (FusionX Global) · pp. 413-420 · 0 citations · 18 references

Abstract

: Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) constitute a crucial component of India’s industrial ecosystem, contributing significantly to GDP growth, employment, and innovation. However, energy and water inefficiencies have become pressing challenges, impacting both cost-effectiveness and environmental sustainability. This work presents a robust framework for the management of energy and water efficiency within Indian SMEs. Drawing from existing literature, sustainability principles, and smart monitoring technologies, the proposed model integrates policy alignment, technology adoption, and behavioral change strategies. The framework aims to assist SMEs in reducing operational inefficiencies while complying with national sustainability mandates such as India’s National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC). The study concludes with implementation recommendations, challenges, and pathways for future research in the digital transformation of resource efficiency in SMEs.
