Crafting employees’ work design for the digital era: a systematic literature review
Abstract
Background: There is mixed evidence regarding whether intentional efforts to enhance job design led to improvements in well-being. We explored the impact of other employment practices, either as tools for job redesign or as complementary factors that support job redesign. Our focus was on well-being, and we also evaluated performance as an outcome when studies included it. The reviewer found that well-being and performance could be enhanced through training workers to improve their own jobs, combining training with job redesign, and employing system-wide approaches that simultaneously improve job design and various other employment practices. Method: The Scopus and Web of Science. The PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items of Systematic Review and Meta-analyses) guidelines were followed, and the protocol was registered on the Open Science Framework. Funding and Registration: This research was supported / funded by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) under the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS). The review was registered on Open Science Framework (OSF) on the 13 May 2024; DOI: https://doi.org/10.17605/OSF.IO/NXZ76
