MARKETING AUTOMATION AND CUSTOMER SEGMENTATION : AN ANALYSIS OF E-COMMERCE CUSTOMER BEHAVIOR DATA FOR PERSONALIZED PRODUCT RECOMMENDATIONS
Abstract
Marketing automation has become very important for e-commerce businesses because customers now want shopping experiences that are quick, personal, and connected to their needs.(Chaffey & Ellis-Chadwick, 2019; Kotler & Keller, 2016; Wedel & Kamakura, 2000). This study looks at how customer segmentation can help businesses give better product recommendations by studying how customers behave on ecommerce platforms.(Wedel & Kamakura, 2000; Ricci et al., 2015). The research focuses on three major regions: the United States, Asia, and Europe. These regions are important because customers in each area may shop differently, expect different things from online businesses, and respond to digital marketing in different ways. The study looks at customer behavior such as browsing history, purchase frequency, product preferences, cart abandonment, re sponse to promotions, and engagement with recommendation systems. When customers are put into different segments, the business can now see different customer behavior and how they make decisions. Let us look at customers in the United States, they would prefer quality, convenience and fast delivery, while Asian customers would focus on influencer recommendations and public opinion for products recommendation. In Europe, customers are more focused on privacy and eth ical sustainability before purchasing a product. This research shows how marketing automation can help e-commerce businesses reach customers in a better way. It allows businesses to send the right message, product suggestion, or special offer to the right customer at the right time. The study also explains how customer segmentation helps businesses understand different types of customers, build stronger relationships, increase sales, keep customers coming back, and encourage more shoppers to complete their purchases. At the same time, the study also looks at some challenges that may affect marketing automation. These include customer privacy rules, cultural differences, wrong customer grouping, poor data quality, and too much personalization, which can make customers uncomfort able. (European Parliament & Council of the European Union, 2016; Biega et al., 2020). Finally, the research shows that properly profiling customers and automating marketing strategies can help digital businesses improve on product recommendations especially since they would be guided by real customer behavior. Every region comes with different customer responses, so how businesses ap proach them should be quite different. In Europe, customers linger on privacy, ethical policies and quality, In Asia, customers focus on brand representation through influencer presentation while the United States could require comfort, fast delivery and also healthier product ingredients. The goal is to ensure customer satisfaction while improving personalization and building updated marketing strategy.
