Abstract

Generative AI Prompts for Scientific Research: How to Use Generative AI in Theses, Dissertations, and Articles is a practical, introductory guide designed to support researchers, graduate students, supervisors, and health professionals in the structured, critical, and responsible use of generative artificial intelligence throughout the scientific research process. The e-book introduces the foundations of prompt construction, explains the essential components of a well-designed scientific prompt, and presents techniques for improving the quality, precision, reproducibility, and usefulness of AI-assisted outputs. It provides more than 40 ready-to-adapt prompt templates for academic writing, critical reading, literature reviews, methodological planning, thesis and dissertation development, manuscript preparation, and journal submission. The material also organizes specific templates according to major scientific reporting guidelines, including STROBE for observational studies, PRISMA for systematic reviews and meta-analyses, CONSORT for randomized clinical trials, CARE for case reports, and SPIRIT for clinical trial protocols. Particular emphasis is placed on human validation, verification of references and data, prevention of AI hallucinations, methodological rigor, transparency, research ethics, and authorship responsibility. Rather than presenting artificial intelligence as a substitute for scientific judgment, the book positions it as a research support tool that can help researchers formulate clearer questions, improve academic workflows, critically review scientific texts, and prepare more structured and methodologically consistent research products while maintaining full human responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and interpretation of the final scientific work.
