Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of resistance band training on the sickle kick ability of students at PSHT Rayon Benai, Musi Rawas Regency. This research employed an experimental method using a two-group pretest-posttest design. The participants consisted of 20 students who were divided into an experimental group and a control group. Data were collected through a sickle kick performance test administered before (pretest) and after (posttest) the training program. The data were analyzed using normality, paired samples t-test, and independent samples t-test with the assistance of SPSS software. The results showed that resistance band training had a significant effect on improving students' sickle kick ability. The paired sample t-test revealed a significance value of 0.001 (p < 0.05). Furthermore, the calculated t-values for the experimental group (14.697) and the control group (10.800) were higher than the t-table value (2.262), indicating significant improvements between the pretest and posttest scores. The results showed that both groups experienced an improvement in sickle kick ability. The experimental group showed an average increase of 7.20 points, while the control group showed an increase of 7.10 points. The results of the independent samples t-test showed a significance value of 0.904 (>0.05), indicating that there was no significant difference in improvement between the two groups. Therefore, resistance band training cannot be stated to be more effective than conventional training in improving sickle kick ability.
