Abstract

The prevalence and significance of bronchial hyperresponsiveness (BHR) in patients with non‐cystic fibrosis (CF) bronchiectasis remain unclear. The objective is to determine the prevalence of BHR, defined as a post‐bronchodilator forced expiratory volume in 1 s (FEV1) improvement > 10%, in children with non‐CF bronchiectasis and to assess its association with clinical, functional, and radiological characteristics.

Evaluating the Efficacy of Brensocatib in Non-cystic Fibrosis Bronchiectasis

Bronchiectasis is a widely recognised chronic respiratory illness classified in severity by frequency of exacerbations within the past year, percent predicted forced expiratory volume in 1 second (%FEV1), previous hospital admissions and radiological severity, among other factors. The physiological process is understoo...

[Bronchiectasis in children: An underdiagnosed disease with accessible screening and etiological assessment].

Long considered as a rare and neglected disease, non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis in children is now recognized as an emerging cause of chronic respiratory morbidity worldwide. Its incidence is strikingly variable, ranging from 0.2-2.3 per 100,000 children annually in high-income countries to more than 700 per 100,00...

Unravelling A Rare Diagnosis: Pulmonary Alveolar Proteinosis.

Pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (PAP) is a rare disorder characterized by abnormal accumulation of surfactant within the alveoli, leading to impaired gas exchange and progressive respiratory symptoms. We report a 40-year-old stone grinder presenting with chronic cough, dyspnea, weight loss and hypoxemia. High-resolution...

Utility of the expiratory disproportion index in early detection of idiopathic subglottic stenosis masked by asthma.

Idiopathic subglottic stenosis (iSGS) is a rare fibrotic condition causing fixed extrathoracic airway obstruction, predominantly affecting postmenopausal women. The expiratory disproportion index (EDI), calculated as forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) (mL)/peak expiratory flow (PEF) (L/min), can help differe...
