Abstract

ABSTRACT Atrial fibrillation (AF) is closely associated with comorbidities and lifestyle factors that influence the development, progression, and outcomes. Here the focus is on guidelines for the systematic management of hypertension, heart failure, coronary and structural heart disease, diabetes, dyslipidemia, cerebrovascular disease, obesity, chronic kidney disease, thyroid dysfunction, inflammatory disease, cancer and frailty. In addition, it provides guidelines for lifestyle factors such as nutrition, physical activity, alcohol consumption, tobacco use, sleep and psychological health as key components of AF care. Finally, multimorbidity, polypharmacy and the diverse clinical, cultural, socioeconomic and healthcare contexts of the Asia Pacific region are also addressed. Particular focus is driven by evidence to support the comprehensive management of lifestyle factors as a core component of AF care with equitable access adapted to local resources and patient needs.
