TL;DR
The role of AS160 in regulating mitochondrial homeostasis and insulin secretion in pancreatic β‐cells is investigated and the underlying molecular mechanism involving its interaction with HSPA8 and activation of PINK1‐Parkin‐mediated mitophagy is elucidated.
Abstract
Insulin deficiency due to pancreatic β‐cell loss and dysfunction is a key event in the pathogenesis of T1DM and a progressive driver of T2DM. This study aims to investigate the role of AS160 in regulating mitochondrial homeostasis and insulin secretion in pancreatic β‐cells, and to elucidate the underlying molecular mechanism involving its interaction with HSPA8 and activation of PINK1‐Parkin‐mediated mitophagy.
ARTICLE HIGHLIGHTS
The innate immunity receptor nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain 1 (Nod1) can be activated by saturated fatty acids and is implicated in high-fat diet-induced inflammation and insulin resistance. This implies Nod1 plays a role in glucose homeostasis; therefore, we sought to determine whether sa...

Pyroptosis, a Gasdermin‐dependent inflammatory form of programmed cell death, has been implicated in DKD progression and metformin has shown renoprotective effects in DKD; however, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is characterized by metabolic reprogramming, including lipid accumulation, which promotes tumor progression and resistance to cell death. Although 1,2,3,4,6-penta-O-galloyl-β-D-glucose (PGG) has reported anticancer effects, its effects on lipid metabolism and ferroptosis-related cell death in CR...

Metabolic dysfunction–associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is the most prevalent chronic liver disorder, with few optimal pharmacotherapies. Ongoing studies are providing evidence that histone acetylation contributes to the progression of MASLD. This study investigated the alterations of specific histone acetylat...
