Artificial intelligence perfectly transforming the sphere of education and offering adaptive architecture of learning, automatizing evaluation processes, and increasing activities of learners, is here to stay. This chapter provides a systematic analysis of the best approaches to establish AI in environments of classroom settings, which include adaptive learning environments, virtual tutors, generative AI applications, intelligent recommender systems, and automated assessment systems. Based on empirical research and feasible case examples, the chapter outlines how AI can reduce the administrative load, is capable of recognizing instructional gaps, and manages different needs of student groups. It also questions the relevant ethical issues, including data privacy, algorithmic bias, and the necessity of being a life-long learner, which defines the classical significance of professional development in teachers who are already walking on this changing ground.
The method, ECCOLA, is presented, which aims at making the high-level AI ethics principles more practical, making it possible for developers to more easily implement them in practice.
